Robotic FUE Hair Transplant

The ARTAS Robotic FUE System is a sophisticated, high-tech hair transplant tool used by Dr. Gerbrands to isolate hair follicles from the hair-bearing areas of the scalp. The system can also be used to implant the harvested hair follicles into the non-hair- bearing areas of the scalp.

The Artas Robotic Arm is an advanced Image guided technology that automates the process of harvesting thousands of grafts in one hair session. This system functions as an assistant to the hair transplant surgeon and has the capability to harvest thousands of grafts over a short period of time.

Follicular unit grafts are typically harvested from the more stable hair bearing area of the scalp called the donor area at the back of the candidate’s head. The harvested follicles are then transplanted into the non hair bearing areas of the scalp which is referred to as the recipient site.

In order for the Artas Robotic System to perform optimally at high speed, tight quality control measures must be in place. This process also requires communication between the physician and the rest of the hair transplant team in order to implement real-time adjustments to accommodate for skin and follicular unit variations during the harvesting process. The success of the hair transplant is critically dependent on, quality of, and the survival of the grafts.
